Travel, Say Yes To The World, Say Yes To Self Discovery

The world is what you make of it.

Stay within your four walls, and your small world still shapes you. It exposes you to experiences unlike others - leaky taps, find a plumber; last onion, time to shop staples; and your kid having a public meltdown, handle it all like a pro. You learn to love your own company, stay economical with the finances and be creative with your time. Not to mention, independent and self-reliant in finding the solutions to your family's daily needs.

But if you are a traveller, your world is, ehmm, more like Randy Newman's "It's a jungle out there". Well not a literal green jungle perhaps, nor the jungle of the concrete kind. But the kind that affords you unexpected encounters, both good and bad; and surreal experiences, both the memorable and the forgettable.

I am a world traveler. Always have been. Heck, I've been traveling since I've been 6. So I've been changing schools just as frequently as I've been changing countries,…

Food Shortcuts To Weight Loss - 10 Super Metabolism-Boosting Foods

The world is going through a massive paradigm shift from the lackadaisical outlook to health and fitness to absolute concern and awareness of it. Everyone’s chanting the mantras of fat burners and metabolism boosters.

In fact, I recently did my own full body checks and one of the first things that my fitness consultant pointed out was my metabolic rate and how I must work to improve it.

‘Metabolism’ is simply a collective function that includes all the bodily processes that turn the food we eat into energy. The higher the metabolism rate the less likelihood of your food getting stored as fat, as most of it is quickly utilized and turned into energy. This simply means that including foods that boost metabolism into your daily diet not only helps you stay active and energetic but it also aids in weight loss, of course if it is coupled with moderate exercises.

Before we list out the top 10 super metabolism boosting foods, let us highlight a particular class of foods first which are the …

Up Your Skin, Nails And Hair Game With The Only Thing That Actually Works - Vitamin E

Vanity, Vanity! We all have it in varying degrees, at varying points in our lives.

In the peak of my health and in the rosy bloom of my youth, I had a little excess of it (if I were to make an honest confession). It had been waning ever since (a good thing in the theory of sins, not so much in real life). And it had been hurting me!

The appearance of age spots and pigmented patches had left my skin looking listless and in need of concealers and make up. My Leonine crowning glory, my thick dark hair, was now no longer as thick and was as dry as the Prairies. My nails were now brittle and traumatized. Outside of my innermost circle of friends, no one could guess the pain. Of how much these had been affecting me as a person, my vanity and indeed my confidence. Even words spoken in jest used to leave deep scars and even the thought close up selfies had me running in terror!

I would normally never confess to all these. After all I did try my best at hiding them with well blended foundati…

This Is Why Yoga For Runners Will Make You Run Better

The proven benefits of yoga for both runners and non-runners are universally recognized. Yet, for runners who wish to train for optimal performances and best runs, yoga is an absolute must.

Regular yoga offers 5 key benefits to runners.

    1.    Injury Prevention Runners are prone to injuries and that’s no surprise considering the amount of stress their knee joints, calves, hamstrings and ankles take. New runners also face problems of the lower back and shoulders due to bad postures while running.

Yoga corrects posture problems. Additionally, yoga stretches and elongates tight muscles and makes them more pliant and supple, thus preventing cramps and other related injuries.

2.    Better Breathing Several yoga asanas, including the simple pranayamas, teach you to be aware of your breaths and to pace them evenly and properly. When running, correct breathing is a must.

If you learn to control your breathing, you can pace your run better. This means you can achieve greater speeds without…

Let's Connect With Strangers, Let's Make New Friends - The Opentalk App Review

William Butler Yeats once said, " There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't yet met." But little did he know that the changing times would make the saying redundant at the least and dangerous at the worst.

Welcome to 2017, where talking to strangers is a folly with sometimes dire consequences. 2017, where making friends online comes with its own set of dangers and talking to strangers is often forbidden.

Yet, here come's an app, Opentalk, they call it, where they have lain down a platform for strangers to connect with strangers, for strangers to share valuable information, and for strangers to make friends.

In a first of firsts, I downloaded the app in question today. Considering that there is just no value in the app for me (or so I thought), this was certainly a surprise even for me. I mean, I hate making small talk, I hate talking on the phone even more and I hate interacting with strangers the most. What in the world would this app, a neatly packaged…

'7 Days 7 DIY Face Masks' Challenge For Soft, Glowing Skin

Meera and I were home alone, and of course we were loving it.

So this time, we’d decided to incorporate a little skin care into our daily fun activities and rituals. We took up a fun ‘7 days 7 DIY face masks’ challenge. The masks were all to be made from regular kitchen ingredients. We are 3 days done and still loving it. Well, at least one half of this team is seriously doing (and loving) the challenge, the other half, well, she’s sticking with fresh aloe vera! She does love her face packs and of course must have them as well!

So, I’ve started the challenge three days ago with Wednesday being my first DIY face mask day. Check out the first three along with the ones I plan to make and use for the 4 days to come.

Day 1: Cleansing, Tightening, Brightening Face Mask Ingredients:
2 tbsp Bengal Gram Flour (Besan)
1 tbsp Yogurt
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl till they form a thick paste consistency.

I applied it evenly all over my face and ne…

7 Sins Your Car Will Never Forgive You For

You say you love your car, but does your car really think so? Do you really tell her that you love her with deeds and not words? If your car could you speak, would she sing ballads about how you shower your love on her?
If you’re doing any of these 7 sins, you probably don’t love her enough. Some of these are so heinous, they almost border on abuse. We know for a fact that no matter how much you love her, your car will never forgive you these 7 mega sins.
1.Procrastinating On An Engine Air Filter Change An air filter is an essential organ for your car. It feeds fresh air to your engine. This fresh air mixes with fuel to create an optimal mix for combustion. By refusing to change a clogged air filter you are essentially denying your engine the fresh air it needs, thus making it work that much harder and indeed guzzle down more fuel. So if you think you are saving money on a new air filter (a fairly inexpensive spare part), you really are NOT! 2.Ignoring Oil Change Signals Have you been…
